Our group includes doctoral, master’s and undergraduate students, supported by technical staff. See the full member directory (Japanese) for student and staff listings and contact details.
Working in the laboratory
Research combines device fabrication, low-temperature transport measurements, RF electronics and data analysis. Students work with quantum devices and measurement systems while developing an understanding of the underlying physics.
The group takes part in scientific conferences and collaborates with research institutions in Japan and overseas. At the 2026 Spin Camp, three first-year master’s students gave an oral presentation and poster presentations. Read about their visit (Japanese).
Cryogenic measurement facilities
Our equipment supports electrical measurements from a few kelvin down to millikelvin temperatures, with magnetic-field control.
| System | Temperature / magnetic field | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Cryogen-free dilution refrigerator | 20 mK / 5 T | S5-101 |
| Cryogen-free helium-3 refrigerator | 0.3 K / 2 T and 3 T vector magnet | S9-302 |
| Dilution refrigerator | 10 mK / 1 T and 6 T vector magnet | S9-302 |
| Two dilution refrigerators | 10 mK / 1 T and 6 T vector magnets | Ishikawadai Building 1, Room 751 |
| Cryogen-free refrigerator | 1.5 K | Ishikawadai Building 1, Room 751 |
| Pulse-tube refrigerator | 2.5 K | Ishikawadai Building 1, Room 751 |
| Heliox helium-3 refrigerator | 0.3 K / 8 T | S5-101 |
Instrumentation and fabrication
Electrical measurements
- RF signal generators
- Arbitrary waveform generators
- Vector network analyzers
- Semiconductor parameter analyzers
- Low-noise voltage sources
Device fabrication
Laboratory equipment includes a thermal oxidation furnace and fume hoods. We also use shared university facilities and equipment at collaborating institutions, including RIKEN and AIST.
